Oxytocin
Serotonin
Endorphin
These are your feel good neurotransmitters, essential for a balanced, healthy life.
Endorphin and Dopamine are your short term hormones, while Oxytocin and Serotonin are there for your long term health.
Endorphin counteracts the perception of pain during hard work. Exercise and laughter are the best ways to get endorphins.
Dopamine gives us the ability to focus, set goals and get them done. We feel the reward of dopamine when making progress.
Serotonin is produced when making progress, accomplishing something, being proud of your own or someone else’s accomplishment. Exposure to sunlight also creates Serotonin. Group training, fitness classes all contribute to triggering this neurotransmitter and giving you a feeling of happiness. It’s a very powerful anti- anxiety and anti-depression hormone.
Oxytocin is the social hormone, the one you get when spreading love, a hug, a smile, generosity and empathy are all because of this hormone. It also reduces cardiovascular stress and boosts the immune system.
Try to find balance between these chemicals in your body. Set some goals and work on accomplishing them, laugh, exercise regularly, spend time outdoors, have friends to spend some fun time with and you have a good chance to keep your DOSE level balanced.
