Functional movement benefits

Functional Movement

What are functional movements and why are they important to our health and well being?

Functional movement takes your joints through their full range of motion and engages the stabilizing muscles.

This is important in preventing injury and bringing efficient and healthy movement back to the body. The seven functional movement patterns of the body are squat, lunge, push, pull, hinge, twist, and gait: walk/run/jump.

There are seven basic movements the human body can perform and all other exercises are merely variations of these seven: Squat, Lunge, Push, Pull, Hinge, Rotation and Gait.

The Squat is considered to be the most complex movement the human body is capable of. It targets multiple  muscles, including the glutes, quadriceps, calf, the hamstring muscles and the core..

When performing all of these movements, you will be able to stimulate all of the major muscle groups in your body. These motions focus on recruiting multiple muscle groups, making them more time efficient exercises.
